Rotaries Lets face it. . . you buy a console for it's switches, faders, displays and pots! Otherwise, you'd stick with your mouse. The rotary pots on a DAW console operate hundreds of different parameters. Because of this importance, we spent a lot of time and money to come up with the best solution we could. |
The
Rotary knobs on MotorMate, MotorMix2 are a unique shape not
seen on any other console. We designed them especially for our consoles.
The small footprint of our consoles yields a narrow channel spacing, and
conventional knobs simply don't work. When you move one knob, you
don't want the side of your fingers to accidentally rotate adjacent knobs.
The shape of our knobs provides maximum control in a minimum of space.
The knobs are molded from our custom mold using a special blend of polypropolene
and a soft synthetic rubber for maximum grip friction, yet firm enough
to prevent deformation.Underneath the Rotary knobs sits an actual analog potentiometer just like the ones you are familiar with, except that it rotates a full 360 degrees. This provides very smooth and accurate edits of your pans, sends, plug-in's and any other parameters assigned to it. Other consoles use very low cost (15 cent) encoders meant for toys. . . not professional DAW consoles. These crummy 15 cent things have annoying clicks when you spin them, and because they have very low resolution, they must be rotated up to 10 times to move a parameter to maximum. For example, if you want to move 8 aux sends from off to unity, you would have to make over 70 revolutions. What a drag! There is also evidence that shows that this repeated clicking can cause stress injury to the fingers. The setting of the Rotaries appears on the bottom row of the LCD and is not obscured while you are operating the pots. Other consoles have LED's around their low-res encoders. When you operate these, the LED's are completely obscured by your hand. |
